The Weatherly Institute for Robotics and Engineering: W.I.R.E.

Beginning in 2004 as a collaborative project between the Weatherly Rotary Club

and Stephen Goodale the Weatherly Robotics Club quickly established itself within the local community as a place where young people ages 6 – 18 could go to work on neat exciting stuff like robots.  The Institute as it is now formulated grew from this club and was incorporated in 2006 as a non-profit.

We have succeeded in producing a great product, 34 graduate or soon to be

graduate engineers!  We have touched the lives of hundreds of young folk by giving them a “Hands on Approach” to the science and art of engineering.

Today, W.I.R.E. teaches classes in high end robotics, currently we have a team

working in this year’s NASA Mars Sample Return Robotics Competition.  We also have a team working with The Real World Design Challenge.

Young people involved in these programs are never asked to pay for their experience.  Funds are raised by selling ad space in our Newsletter and on our Website and by soliciting Corporate Sponsors, and Small Businesses with a vested interest in helping to mature our young people and to guide them into the engineering field.
